Mount Everest College of Teacher Education (MECTE) was established in the Year 2016 vide NCTE Order No. F.No.ER-213.6(1).372/ ERCAPP2111/B.Ed/2016/45878 dated 02/05/2016. MECTE is a composite Institute of Mount Everest College, Senapati, Manipur which is permanently affiliated to Manipur University and recognized by UGC under 2 (f) and 12 (B) of UGC Act, 1956, and received Grant-in-Aid status in 2022. MECTE is recognized by National Council of Teacher Education (NCTE) and affiliated to Manipur University and is the only B.Ed. institute in Senapati District. It was established with a view to encourage and promote Professional Human Resource, innovation, material development programme.
The college is situated on the outskirts of the busy commercial township of Senapati District Headquarters. The location affords solitude and congenial conductive to the pursuit of good education. The beauty of the environment is enhanced by the National Highway 2 that runs parallel to the meandering Senapati river both just below the College Campus. The College location is surrounded by lush green hills and is easily accessible by various means of transport. In addition to the peaceful environment, other facilities like abundant water, uninterrupted electricity, banks and ATMs, hotels, post office, health centres, police station, etc., are within the range of two kilometers.
